It is the year 1215 and the rebel barons of England have forced their despised King John to put his royal seal to the Magna Carta, a noble, seminal document that upheld the rights of free-men. I've been waiting to see this movie for a while, and now I've finally gotten to see it. It was definitely worth the wait. While I didn't love the movie, I enjoyed it quite a lot. James Purefoy is always awesome and doesn't disappoint here.
There a many faces in this film that you will recognize. A whole lot of fantastic actors who are fantastic here. The acting is top notch.
The action is very well done and bloody, while not being over-the-top. There were a few moments of slow-down in the film which would be my only complaint. The "love story" between Purefoy and Mara just seemed kind of awkward to me and I didn't feel any interest in it. Perhaps it was supposed to be awkward given the situation, but those long moments brought this film slightly down for me.
Overall this flick is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone. Besides the one small complaint, this movie offers everything you are looking for: great action, story, acting etc.
