Super Stooges vs the Wonder Women (1975)

Director: Alfonso Brescia
Writers: Alfonso Brescia (story), Aldo Crudo (story)

Three men with supernatural powers interfere in a tribal warfare to prevent evil Amazons destroying the inhabitants of a village.

I'll start with this... I hated this movie so much I couldn't even muster enough energy to take proper screenshots.  So, I found some screenshots online and am posting them here so you can see how the movie looks.

This isn't the worst movie I've seen. (See my review of Severed Ways: The Norse Discovery of America (2007) for that bit of cinema history)  However, I am not a fan of the three stooges.  I know this movie has nothing to do with the tree stooges, but the humor is similar.

This movie sets out to make you laugh at slap-stick humor and that's all it does.  I'm sure some of you out there would enjoy this type of thing, but I don't.

I'm not even going to talk about the acting/story/action stuff because I could hardly make it through 30 minutes of this thing.  So to each his own; if you're a fan of three stooges type humor check it out, otherwise avoid it.

Verdict: Avoid!

It is the year 1215 and the rebel barons of England have forced their despised King John to put his royal seal to the Magna Carta, a noble, seminal document that upheld the rights of free-men. Yet within months of pledging himself to the great charter, the King reneged on his word and assembled a mercenary army on the south coast of England with the intention of bringing the barons and the country back under his tyrannical rule. Barring his way stood the mighty Rochester castle, a place that would become the symbol of the rebel's momentous struggle for justice and freedom

I've been waiting to see this movie for a while, and now I've finally gotten to see it.  It was definitely worth the wait.  While I didn't love the movie, I enjoyed it quite a lot.  James Purefoy is always awesome and doesn't disappoint here.

There a many faces in this film that you will recognize.  A whole lot of fantastic actors who are fantastic here.  The acting is top notch.

The action is very well done and bloody, while not being over-the-top.  There were a few moments of slow-down in the film which would be my only complaint.  The "love story" between Purefoy and Mara just seemed kind of awkward to me and I didn't feel any interest in it.  Perhaps it was supposed to be awkward given the situation, but those long moments brought this film slightly down for me.

Overall this flick is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone.  Besides the one small complaint, this movie offers everything you are looking for: great action, story, acting etc.

Verdict: Highly recommended
